Djeco Toys in Paris commissioned Christian Montenegro to create this illustrated world for a large childrens play mat. How much would I have loved this as a 6 year old kid with a bag full of corgi cars! See below for some pics of the illustrations used on Djeco's stands at trade fairs and the likes.
The style of a Djeco product is truly distinctive; puzzles are intricately painted and finely detailed, pull toys whimsically designed to be somehow both hip and retro, while blocks are deeply saturated with color and simply formed.
